Beauty Therapy Science

The Beauty Therapy BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) course offered at Hasmonean aims to develop a range of skills and knowledge in beauty treatments and the running of a beauty salon. Students are required to complete projects and assignments based on a realistic work environment. The qualification is awarded on successful completion of practical work-related courses including treatments, people skills and self-confidence. BTEC national qualifications are valued by employers, universities and colleges of higher education. A two-year, six unit single BTEC in Beauty Therapy is equivalent to one A Level. The study of an additional six units will increase the number of A Level equivalents achieved to two.

At Hasmonean, students can train as beauty therapists in a dedicated environment, whilst continuing to benefit from our sixth form Jewish Studies and PSHCE programmes.

Post 16

The BTEC course in Beauty Therapy lasts two years. The minimum requirements for starting the course are 4 GCSEs or practical & relevant work experience. Students are expected to undertake independent study time of 3 hours per week as a minimum. This BTEC qualification may be studied in conjunction with other A/AS Level subjects. A two-year 6 unit single BTEC in Beauty Therapy is equivalent to one A Level. The study of an additional 6 units increases the number of A Level equivalents achieved to 2.
