Ethos

The ethos of Hasmonean High School is based unambiguously on the principles of Orthodox Judaism. At the core of these principles is
the recognition that both the written and the oral Torah are Divine. The principles are enshrined in the Shulchan Aruch,
the Code of Jewish Law and its commentaries which delineate the laws, customs and values of an Orthodox Jewish lifestyle.
It is the school's aim to maximise the individual capabilities of its students to provide them
with the knowledge and skills that will enable them, subsequently, to take their place in society whether in the worlds of
Jewish learning, teaching or social service, or in the general academic, professional or business worlds.
The School places particular value on:
- Derech Eretz: respect for others, both within the school community and in the wider world
- Motivating students to engage in continual Torah study
- Integrity in all aspects of behaviour
- Inculcating a special concern for Israel and for all of our people living there.
