Supportive Studies
The Supportive Studies Unit operates at both schools. Its main purpose is to assist students with learning difficulties. Our staff provide support in lessons across school subjects, either working with specific students, or giving general help, particularly where staff have a subject specialism. Some students are also taught in dedicated rooms on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.

The Supportive Studies Department
The Department is able to conduct several types of assessment, for example to determine levels of literacy; eligibility for extra time for public examinations; and whether a student is eligible for other assistance, such as the use of a laptop or a reader or scribe. Confidential Individual Assessment Plans, Personal Support Plans and Pastoral Support Plans are also prepared in conjunction with the pastoral Heads of Year. We work closely with the Local Authority and participate in their Inset programme to ensure that the school is aware of the latest thinking in Special Educational Needs. We arrange separate internal examination sessions for students who require less pressure in Key Stage 3.
Our dedicated rooms have resources, including computers, to help with literacy and numeracy skills. Our rooms are not just teaching areas, however, they are also havens for students. A homework club is run on one lunch time each week within our dedicated rooms.
The Boys' and Girls' Schools both run annual educational trips to Central London for students in Key Stage 3, to discover the rich heritage that London and its river has to offer.
The Supportive Studies Unit is an integrated part of Hasmonean High School, and our aim is to ensure the inclusion of all students.
